Environmental scientists are trained to solve and understand complex environmental problems by integrating knowledge of key physical, chemical, and biological processes.

Program description

The environmental science BSc is an interdisciplinary, science-intensive program, leading to a major, minor, or honours.

Courses in this program provide diverse scientific foundation required to understand the environment, including its natural variability and impacts from human activities, from a multi-disciplinary perspective.

In consultation with the advisor, students in the major will complement their program with an in-depth concentration of courses to provide them with a scientific specialty.

For the courses required for these programs see the .

Four specialty streams are:

  1. Aquatic environments
  2. Environmental chemistry
  3. Environmental modelling
  4. Environmental monitoring and Management

Not all courses are offered annually so students need to pay careful attention to the planned patterns of course rotation and to seek advice from the Department as needed.

To keep track of the courses you have taken, it is useful to fill in a degree audit form.
