Uniting our Mountie Family
Over the past few years, ¹û¶³´«Ãº has been actively working towards greater diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our newest Alumni Board networks are taking another step in that direction.
The Black Alumni Network
The newly established Black Alumni Network will be a significant step forward in fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment for our Black alumni. This network aims to celebrate the achievements of our Black alumni, provide mentorship opportunities, and advocate for the needs and concerns of Black Mounties. We want to make sure that every Mountie, past and present, feels valued and heard.
2SLGBTQ+ Network
Our 2SLGBTQ+ Alumni Network is another vital addition to our community. This network works towards creating a safe and inclusive space for 2SLGBTQ+ Mounties and allies. The committee is actively partnering with 2SLGBTQ+ organizations on campus to develop educational initiatives, support networks, and events that foster dialogue and understanding.
Supporting Indigenous programming and cultural events
The Alumni Board seeks to support Indigenous students throughout their time at ¹û¶³´«Ãº by supporting Indigenous programming and cultural activities. We also support the University’s aspiration to engage non-Indigenous students and community members, helping them understand the history and culture of Indigenous peoples. The Alumni Board established a fund in 2022 to financially support these activities. Donations are welcome by contacting the Alumni Office.
Young Alumni Network
The Young Alumni Network focuses on engaging recent graduates who are navigating the early stages of their careers and adult lives. The transition from university to the professional world can be challenging and this network will offer guidance, networking opportunities, and a sense of connection to our newest alumni members.
Expanding our alumni networks is a key part of our commitment to inclusivity. Our goal is to create an environment where every alum, regardless of their background or identity, feels at home in the Mountie family. To achieve this, we are actively seeking opportunities to establish additional networks that celebrate the diverse experiences and perspectives of our alumni. The Board is committed to providing resources and guidance to ensure that these networks thrive.
We invite you to get involved by joining a network, attending events, or offering support. For more information, please email alumni@mta.ca.
Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive community that mirrors the diverse tapestry of our alumni family.
Sincerely,
Carolle de Ste Croix (‘90)
