Meet Emilie – ú’s Health Intern

HealthIntern_EmileComfortDuring her final year at ú, fourth-year and student Emilie Comfort is working as the Health Intern in ú’s . She was drawn to the position because of the opportunity to work in the health field and help people.

“This position allows me to help people by promoting general health on campus and informing the community on common health-related issues,” she says. “It’s been a rewarding experience so far.”

Working alongside ú’s nurse-educator Cindy Crossman, Comfort creates promotional videos for Student Health 101, writes a regular health column in the campus and community newspaper, The Argosy, and organizes communications and events around health. Her goal is to organize one health-related event per month.

In October, she collaborated with the Health Matters Society to host Ride/Run Pink — a 5k run and 20k biking event in Sackville that raised funds to support the local Tantramar Breast Cancer Organization. She is also working on a ‘Rethink the Drink’ panel that will be held in January.

“This internship has opened my mind to different ways of thinking and has allowed me to engage more with the campus community,” she says.

Comfort is a member of KAMP (previously Big Buddies), President of the Health Matters Society, and volunteers at . She also spends time training for sprint triathlons.

After graduation, Comfort plans to pursue a career in elementary education.
