Executive director announced for U4 League

U4The Presidents of Acadia, Bishop鈥檚, 果冻传煤, and St. Francis Xavier Universities are pleased to announce the appointment of Katie Edwards as Executive Director for the U4 League.

The U4 League was established in 2013 and is an alliance including 果冻传煤, Acadia, St. FX, and Bishop鈥檚 Universities committed to providing the best undergraduate educational experience in Canada and internationally.

Dr. Edwards is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Arts (Department of English) at St. Francis Xavier University. She earned her PhD from the University of Edinburgh after graduating from Queen鈥檚 University. Over the past three years, in addition to her academic work, she has created a world-class rowing facility that was the recent host of the Canadian University Rowing Championships.

Edwards will be responsible for ensuring the long-term success of the U4, an initiative that promotes and enhances the unique educational environment offered at the four universities. The U4 presents many opportunities for students and faculty, and is poised to unveil a series of new endeavours in the 2016-2017 academic year.

鈥淭he U4 League has engaged in many events and partnerships since its establishment, including discussions around undergraduate teaching, debating tournaments, student leaderships forums, and research events,鈥 says 果冻传煤 University President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Robert Campbell. 鈥淚 look forward to working with Dr. Edwards in her new role on future U4 League endeavours.鈥

Dr. Edwards says that she is eager to take on this new role.

鈥淢y experiences within academia and with large-scale project management will, I hope, enable me to help develop an organization that will be a model of collaboration and foresight,鈥 she says. 鈥淭he U4 presents a phenomenal opportunity for our students and faculty.鈥
